Night of the Queer
NIGHT OF THE QUEER
After two years, Night of the Queer returns — reimagined and with a bold new home at Victor’s.
Since its inception in 2015, Night of the Queer has been a dazzling fixture of the Auckland Pride Festival, celebrating the depth, brilliance, and diversity of queer artistry across Tāmaki Makaurau. Originally co-produced with TAPAC, the show quickly established itself as a vibrant and inclusive cabaret experience, a space where emerging and established queer performers could take the stage, be seen, and be celebrated.
Previously led by the visionary Taane Mete and Taiaroa Royal, Night of the Queer transitioned into the creative hands of LUCK & SCHOONEY in 2018. Under their direction, the show has continued to evolve, each year exploring new themes, pushing creative boundaries, and deepening its connection to the community.
Now, as it returns, Night of the Queer marks a new chapter.
Blending nostalgia with fresh work, this latest iteration brings together a dynamic ensemble of dancers, drag artists, and multidisciplinary performers in a bold celebration of queer excellence. From high-energy dance and aerial artistry to sassy song, striking burlesque, and unapologetic drag, the show transforms the space into a world where audiences are invited not just to watch — but to feel, connect, and ultimately move.
This is more than a cabaret.
It’s a homecoming.
WANT TO BE INVOLVED?!
We’re excited to announce that auditions are now open for Night of the Queer 2026 at Victor’s.
We are seeking six strong, versatile dancers with a passion for performance. This year’s cast will be made up of multidisciplinary artists, so we’re especially interested in performers who bring additional skills to the space, whether that’s singing, drag, circus, burlesque, or unique solo work.

"The room comes alive – the supportive energy a renewing, electric current. It feels like an hour and a half of bodies pressed against us, a mental hug for everyone who has ever felt ‘other. Lighthearted but full of heart, Night of The Queer teaches us without preaching.’ - Theatre Scenes 2020
